Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

Cacao powder is derived from the seeds of Cacao fruit and is used to make chocolate. While sugar-laden chocolate bars are far from a health food, raw cacao powder is a Mayan superfood! Cacao is rich in magnesium, fiber, and antioxidants. It has been used traditionally for thousands of years, and is at the heart of South American culture.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (or almond butter or nut butter of choice)
  • 1/2 small avocado
  • 4 tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 4 dates, pitted
  • 2 small handfuls spinach
  • 1 tablespoon cacao nibs
  • Dash sea salt
  • ½- ¾ cup water
  • 4-6 drops stevia, optional
  • Ice, optional

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Add more water until desired consistency is reached. Transfer to glasses or mason jars to take to-go.
