July 5, 2017, 5 Seasons Diet, Integrative Health
As we celebrate the July 4th holiday this week the idea of freedom is front and center. We often don't think about freedom and health being connected. However, on a daily basis, in my acupuncture office they certainly are. Clients come in with aches, pains, fatigue, gut issues, or just overall malaise. They are unable to live the way they want to. Poor health restricts travel, exercise, and exploration of new things. It also keeps people uncomfortable in their work and home environments. Simple things like picking up a grandchild, gardening, joining friends for a day of shopping, and getting in and out of the car easily. These are all issues I hear about daily. And they are all preventable. If we all invested a portion of our time into the quality and cooking of our food we would actually gain more time. Below is an excerpt from our website that talks about why we created the 5 Seasons Diet and how food, nutrition, and health connect to our daily freedom.

When our 5 Seasons Diet team talks about what is important to us, the underlying similarity is freedom and choices. Freedom comes in many forms, but when our team talks about what is important to us, things like great health, traveling, experiencing new foods, energy, balanced and healthy weight, and supporting our environment, organic farmers and communities come to mind. We want the freedom to move through our lives healthy, active, energized, and happy. These freedoms give us more choices in life. After all, the reason we work hard is for choices! Through a healthier lifestyle, we can help you achieve these goals as well.
We want you to thrive. We want to help you be deeply nourished by your food, to feel satisfied by what you eat, to have more energy, to begin living from vibrancy instead of survival. You have one life to live, and we want you to make the most of it. Our team believes that food is medicine.
We want to educate you. We aren't simply handing over recipes and shopping lists. We want you to learn about food on a deeper level, learn about eating according to the seasons, and gain tools to use for your own and your family's health. We want you to begin to experience growth on all levels of body, mind, and spirit as that is from where alive-ness truly comes.
We want you to reconnect with healthy food. Since the commercialization of food, our culture has become disconnected from what real food is, how it tastes, and the benefit it provides our body. Processed food has left us with products loaded with sugar and carbohydrates, and devoid of vitamins and minerals. It quickly satisfies and then hours later we are starving again. It sabotages our blood sugar and over time causes disease. There is nothing in processed foods that sustains us. As a nation, we are getting sicker and sicker; we are seeing diseases that we have never seen before in shockingly high numbers. A diet rich in processed and refined foods and lacking in nutrients is the largest contributor to over 300 autoimmune diseases today, as well as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, dementia, infertility, and metabolic syndrome. This diet has also been linked to attention deficit disorders, autism, and birth defects in our children. Let us guide you back to the food of our great-grandparents' time so that we can reverse this trend towards disease. Real, nutritious, whole food that provides nourishment and energy, and builds us up rather than breaks us down. With our meal plans you will find yourself shopping at farm stands, farmers markets, and on the periphery of local Co-ops and grocery stores, filling your cart with real food rather than picking up the boxes of empty, highly addictive, and dangerous products that fill the center aisles.
We want to create ease in your life. Not just with food but also with your mind and body. Eating well and gaining the benefit of clean food takes time. However, we have worked hard to make it as easy and seamless as possible and the return you will find on this investment will come back to you tenfold. Carving out time in your schedule to cook according to the 5 Seasons Diet will alter how your body moves forward into the future. As Tristan, our nutritionist, loves to say, "Pay your farmer now, or pay your pharmacist later." We also want to support your mind and spirit, because we need all three to thrive.
The weekly newsletters that you will receive as a member bring you ways to think and feel differently, providing encouragement and cheerleading for the changes you will make in support of your health and that of your family.
When you move through life with ease everything about you changes. And when you don't, dis-ease appears. The definition of dis-ease is a body not at ease. The beauty of this is that it is under your control! You get to choose what you put in your body, you get to choose how you think about your day, you get to choose how to react to stress, and ultimately, you get to choose how you want to age.
Imagine feeling calm, happy, energetic, and focused daily. Imagine fewer aches and pains. Imagine making time for what feeds your soul. Imagine having space to create new things in your life. Imagine all of the additional choices you will have when health is present in your life. When you are healthy, you have fewer distractions in your life. All of us at 5 Seasons Diet have experienced how these magical moments begin in our lives when we take care of our physical body. Our goal is to provide the information you need to begin transforming your health one season at a time. We are behind you, cheering you on, every step of the way.
We bring you knowledge from farm inspired chefs, our holistic nutritionist, and Five Element Acupuncturist. Body. Mind. Spirit. You have the support of a team that cares about you.
